Using traditional drawing techniques but also attempting to find a contemporary stylistic language while referencing art and historical imagery - obviously alluding to independent comix and zine (sub)culture as well as nodding towards Manga. Using the extremely banal traditional material of linoleum lining institutional floors and carving stories- and expanding into woodcut, this comix ironically comments both the machismo of eighties style painters under the label „neoexpressionism“ and points to art historical references. It builds the story about a Precarious Artistic Researcher and her repeated bouncing off the Man Suit Barriers she encounters during her dealings with institutionalized patriarchy, before venturing into darker territory of the history of the Women‘s Clinic in Berlin, where Precarious Artistic Researcher has been working for two years.
UP NEXT: Follow Precarious Artistic Researcher as she excavates the Monument Against Patriarchy together with the Institute for Antipatriarchal Studies, all the while mapping and tracing the genealogy of the eighties style painters, keenly observing the cultural clashes and communicative collages between an internationally mobile crowd and an increasingly precarious labor force, in neoliberalism.
